Privacy Policy

Embed is a speaking-first language-learning service operated by IDK Studios, Inc. (“Embed,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because our data practices are deliberately small.

Your voice is never stored

When you speak a line, the recording is sent to our speech-scoring provider (Microsoft Azure Speech), scored for pronunciation, and immediately discarded. We keep the score, a number, and how long your mic was on. We never keep the audio: there is no audio field in our database, by design.

What we collect

• Account. If you save your progress, your email address; if you continue with Google, your name and email from your Google account. You can also use Embed anonymously, with no account details at all.
• Onboarding answers. Your goal, self-rated level, and daily speaking goal, used to shape your journey.
• Learning activity. Which scenes and reviews you've done, pronunciation scores, speaking durations, and any line feedback you send, the data that powers your deck and progress.
• Payment. If you subscribe, your billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive a subscription status and customer reference; we never see or store your card number.
• Essential technical data. A secure session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use it

To run the service, score your speaking, build your deck, track progress, process your subscription, and send account emails (such as your sign-in link). We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who processes your data

We rely on a small set of vetted providers, only as needed to run Embed:

• Supabase, database, accounts, and storage.
• Microsoft Azure Speech, pronunciation scoring (audio processed in the moment, not retained by us).
• Stripe, payments.
• Google, optional sign-in.
• Resend, account emails.
• Vercel, hosting and delivery.

Retention & your rights

We keep your data while your account is active. You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time, and deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, we honor those requests.

Security & location

Access to your data is protected by per-user database rules, and payment card data never touches our servers. Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States; if you use Embed from elsewhere, your data is processed there.

Children

Embed is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
